Doctors agree to disagree with Government on RAH
A meeting of around 200 doctors at the Royal Adelaide Hospital last night called on the state government to immediately abandon plans to relocate the RAH.
The meeting arranged by the Save the RAH Action Group was attended by doctors from across the metropolitan area.
Group Chair Jim Katsaros says the meeting agreed on a motion to ask the government to not close the RAH.
Dr Katsaros says there was a strong response against the government’s relocation plan.
“We set out for the meeting the costs involved in refurbishing and not relocating the RAH and the fact that the RAH already has some of the world’s best facilities.
“To relocate would be a waste of taxpayers’ money.
“South Australians have been sold a ‘pup’ on this issue.”
Among a raft of resolutions, the meeting of doctors also asked that the government immediately begin work on a new patient accommodation wing at the RAH.
